“An icon of Afro-Peruvian culture and tradition.” —Jazz Times

Eva Ayllón has been called “the Tina Turner of Afro-Peruvian music, energetic and playful, sexy and fully charged” (Los Angeles Times). Her repertoire ranges from the romantic Spanish songs known as valses, to the distinctive rhythms brought by African slaves—the sensual lando, the throbbing festejo, and the bawdy, insouciant alcatraz. Ayllón’s performance is accompanied by an eight-member band featuring outstanding young soloists and a powerhouse rhythm section, all masters of the authentic Peruvian cajón.
