“It isn’t merely the grace and power of their dancing or the beauty of their singing that rivets the attention, but the sheer joy and love that emanates from their being.”
—Paul Simon
Ladysmith Black Mambazo has performed for the Pope and the Queen; entertained at Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies; sung with Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Dolly Parton; and contributed their vocal talents to Paul Simon’s Graceland and Disney’s The Lion King. The award-winning South African a cappella ensemble has been performing their joyous, high-energy song-and-dance mix for over 45 years under the tutelage of their beloved leader, Joseph Shabalala. Ladysmith Black Mambazo continues to awe with their emotional range and ability to evoke the beautiful sounds and atmosphere of a land far away. The group’s most recent album, Songs from a Zulu Farm, features songs from their childhood and earned the group their 16th Grammy nomination.
