Called “the most original trumpeter/composer of his generation,” two-time Grammy-nominated trumpeter Dave Douglas is perhaps the most widely-revered jazz figure of the past 20 years. With a style that channels Stravinsky and Stevie Wonder as much as Coltrane and Lester Bowie, Douglas’s performances explode in a veritable riot of colors, moods, and rhythms. With his quintet, Douglas takes audiences on a soulful, visceral exploration that pushes beyond the usual boundary lines of modern jazz. Known for his stint with John Zorn and with 28 albums to his name, Douglas was named “Artist of the Year” by the New York Jazz Awards, Down Beat, Jazz Times, Jazziz, and the Italian Jazz Critics’ Society.
