“One of the bright hopes, Tardy sounds like a seeker, absolution and salvation in every solo.” —New York Times
Monster saxophonist and clarinet player Greg Tardy is “on track to help write the next chapter in jazz history” (All About Jazz). A big-sounding player with deep-seated blues feel and cerebral avant-garde chops, Tardy leads a smoking quartet that performs his knotty tunes with fire. As a veteran of the groups of Tom Harrell, Wynton Marsalis, Jay McShann, Bill Frisell, Betty Carter, and Andrew Hill (among many others), Tardy has developed a sound that ranges from modern, expansive pieces to lyrical waltzes, to explosive neo-bop. A truly awesome bandleader and performer, to witness Tardy in concert is to revel in his inventiveness and finesse.
