10:00am David Ludwig’s Inside Pitch: George Crumb
Widely acknowledged as one of the most innovative American composers, Crumb has had a major impact on how composers write music and create their own worlds of sound. This third Inside Pitch looks at what makes Crumb sound like Crumb, exploring his colorful use of unorthodox instrumental techniques and some of his works that affected generations of his students and admirers to come. The talk will center around the final festival program that includes music that influenced Crumb and music that he influenced.

How does a living violinmaker maker draw from the traditions of Stradivari, and the cumulative experience of generations of makers? How does this influence violin design today? Renowned violinmaker Samuel Zygmuntowicz will explore the process of working with players to optimize form and function.
