George Crumb is one of the most influential composers of the 20th and 21th Centuries, and is noted for his variety of soundscapes. The American Songbook II for piano, baritone, and four percussionists takes existing spirituals and turns them into stunning, overwhelming experiences. Debussy, Chopin, and Bartok were named by George Crumb as the biggest influences on the "Crumb sound."
