2:30pm David Ludwig’s Inside Pitch: La Grande Ligne
How is it that composers spin entire pieces out of the seed of a simple theme or idea, like a musical DNA? David discusses the tradition of motives and development in German music, starting with the Classical era of Mozart and Haydn, moving through works of Beethoven, and on to Schoenberg, the Second Viennese School, and beyond. Special attention will be paid to composers and works performed at the Festival.
4:30pm Sounding Board
