“Ms. Myers can indeed shape an onstage world.” —New York Times
The Dancing Room draws on contemporary forms of dance, music, and interactive visual art while engendering a unique relationship between performer and audience. A group of no more than 30 audience members encircles the four dancers on stage in a collaboration with the artists designed to harness and examine the nuanced balance between the personal and the formal. The piece features interactive illumination by artist John Slepian and original music from ongoing collaborator and composer Josh Quillen (of So Percussion). The Flynn presents the world premiere of this National Performance Network Creation Fund Project co-commissioned and workshopped here at the theater.
