Every January, New York hosts GlobalFest, one of the most exciting and celebrated world music events in the country. Started in 2003 to showcase groundbreaking sounds from around the world, GlobalFest hits the road this year with three stellar musicians. Emeline Michel is the reigning Queen of Haitian Song, a captivating performer, versatile vocalist
and one of the premier Haitian songwriters of her generation. Brushy One-String is a visionary Jamaican guitarist who coaxes a lively array of influences and sounds out of his one-stringed instrument. Casuarina is one of the most sophisticated and respected groups of Rio de Janeiro’s samba and choro scene. The New York Times says
“At GlobalFest, the whole world gets into the groove.”
Presented in association with the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs through the UVM President’s Initiative for Diversity.
