“Music this beautifully articulated allows cultures to talk to one another across time, space, language, and other divides.”—AllMusic
Majestic tin whistles, soaring fiddles, thunderous bodhrán drums, and concertinas redolant of the verdant hills of Ireland have kept the Chieftains’ name synonymous with traditional Irish music for over 50 years. Led by founding member Paddy Maloney—arguably the most important name in Irish music
history—the band has spread Ireland’s indigenous songs and styles to the rest of the world. Collaborating with many musical giants from the Rolling Stones and Madonna to the Decemberists and Bon Iver, the Chieftains constantly innovate by melding cultures and drawing out the traditional roots ubiquitously present throughout all the world’s music. The Chieftains rarely make their way to the Burlington area—an uncommon treat not to be missed.
