“I’ve never heard anyone who can play like him. No one has heard a person who can play like him.” —Wynton Marsalis
Charged with intricate bursts of improvisation, piano prodigy Joey Alexander plays with a strikingly vast emotional range made all the more stunning considering Alexander’s young age. The Bali-born 13-year-old is the new thing in jazz, a fully formed artist whose musical maturity has earned him critical nods of appreciation and a fervent endorsement from jazz giant Herbie Hancock. Having been featured at the Grammy Awards, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and on 60 Minutes, Alexander may be
a star at the moment, but his profound ability makes it clear he’s here for the long haul. The Flynn is proud to welcome Alexander in his first Vermont performance, in which he's joined on bass and drums.
