“Victor Lewis is the kind of timekeeper that could teach a clock new ways to tick.”—Los Angeles Times
Providing a bridge from the jazz capitol of the world to Burlington's own vibrant scene, local jazz greats Ray Vega (trumpet) and Robinson Morse (bass) join New York City's Will Sellenraad (guitar) and Victor Lewis (drums) to highlight the Queen City's deep ties to jazz. Grammy-winning trumpet master Vega, a veteran of the bands of Tito Puente and Ray Barretto, plays and presents jazz with fire. Sellenraad is a brilliant improviser and composer who recorded with Lewis on his critically acclaimed 2009 release, Balance. Morse, a Vermont native who is a flexible and supportive musician, also having spent time in New York. Lewis has performed and recorded with scores of virtuosic players. With breakneck backbeats, featherlight brushwork, and ride-heavy leads, the classically-trained drummer composes with ambience and tone. The evening features performances of all the musicians' work, with special emphasis on Lewis' oeuvre.
