KISSED BY THE WILD, performed by the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble under the artistic direction of Steven Klimowski, is a musical tribute to our natural world. Each piece will explore the juxtaposition of nature and musical ideas. Vermont composer Peter Hamlin presents a new work “Visions of Ice”. He describes his composition as “a series of musical reflections on photographs of ice by Chris Robbins composed for flute, clarinet, cello and computer.” The Ensemble will also perform award winning Canadian composer Chan Ka Nin’s composition “I think that I shall never see” . In an effort to promote emerging musical talent VCME will perform a student work also inspired by nature. A featured guest artist, Michael Arnowitt, will perform piano works by Olivier Messiaen.
Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble has been a integral part of the Vermont musical life for over twenty years performing new chamber music in venues throughout Vermont and the performances are described as “impassioned and heartfelt” by the Times Argus.
