PLEASE NOTE: (February 24, 2017) Ballake Sissoko and Vincent Segal’s flights have been seriously delayed due to mechanical problems. They will not make it to Burlington tonight in time for this evening’s performance.

They will arrive tonight at 10:00 pm and are scheduled for a concert in Quebec City tomorrow night. Generously, they have agreed to perform their full program for us tomorrow, Saturday, February 25 at noon in the UVM Recital Hall.

It’s going to be a rainy, drizzly, muddy day, so we hope you will be able to spend a few hours with us in the afternoon to enjoy this spectacular music and these two extraordinary musicians. They really want to play for us.

For those of you who cannot make tomorrow’s performance, a refund of the purchase price of your tickets will be available. Refunds must be claimed by Friday, March 3.

Tickets intended for tonight’s performance will be honored tomorrow. For those who cannot be there, please send in your ticket stubs to the Flynn Box Office at 153 Main Street, Burlington, VT 05401 or contact the Flynn Box Office at (802)-863-5966/box@flynncenter.org regarding tickets held at Will Call so that we may process your ticket refund.

Additional tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

French cellist Vincent Segal and Malian kora master Ballaké Sissoko surprised the music world in 2009 with their uniquely elegant Chamber Music, an album that proposed a rich hybrid of traditions and earned the duo spots on best-of lists across Europe and North America. Segal and Sissoko have since continued refining their musical reveries, drawing on West African troubadour songs and the rich heritage of Baroque music to develop an acute and thoroughly modern sensibility. Their most recent record, Musique de Nuit (Night Music), captures the duo listening closely to one another, responding with seemingly psychic connections to each note. Their hauntingly beautiful harmony takes listeners on an extraordinary musical voyage in the pin-drop acoustics of the UVM Recital Hall.

Presented in association with the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity, and Multicultural Affairs through the UVM President’s Initiative for Diversity.
