“The way her voice resonates is so unusual and beautiful, like nothing I’ve ever heard before.” —Lucius

Classically trained violinist and songwriter Gaelynn Lea rose to widespread acclaim after winning NPR’s 2016 Tiny Desk Contest. Touring nationally since then, Lea bewitches with haunting takes on traditional fiddle music. Switching between her violin and voice, looping and polyphonic orchestrations add intricacy to simple folk melodies. Lea, who has a congenital disability called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, plays the violin as others might a cello with an improvisational style completely her own.
